3 Day garden worker training course @ R3 900 - Introduction to Horticulture 

The training comprises of 30% theory and 70% practical.

The course is composed of the following eleven modules:

Module 1 : Plants

How plants function and what makes them happy.

Module 2 : Gardening Tools

What tools to use in the garden and how to take care of them.

Module 3 : Garden Soil

What does good garden soil look like and how to make the soil better.

Module 4 : Compost

Why do we use compost and how to make good compost?

Module 5 : Fertilizer

Why and how do we apply fertilizer?

Module 6 : Water

How and when to apply enough water to make the plants grow at their best?

Module 7 : Planting

How to plant new plants in the garden without them dying?

Module 8 : Weeds

How to control weeds manually.

Module 9 : Lawn Maintenance 

What is the best way to care for the lawn?

Module 10 : Pruning

How to prune plants in the garden.

Module 11 : Pests and Diseases

What are pests and diseases and how to control them?

Course Assessment

Candidates will be assessed on their knowledge by completing a 200 question exam paper two weeks after completing the course. Candidates need to achieve at least 75% or more to be certified.

Certification

Candidates who have passed will receive a certificate valid for 3 years from date of issue on successful completion of the exam. Please remember to keep your certificate in a safe place. You will need to produce it at an interview as proof of your training and achievement.

CPR & Choking for Adults, Children and Infants - Duration 1/2 Day from 09:00am to 12:00pm Without oxygen your loved one's brain will start to die within 4 minutes. These skills could help revive your loved one or at least keep them alive long enough for the paramedics to get to you.

Basic First aid - Duration 1/2 Day from 13:00am to 16:00pm

Ever wondered how to treat your child's bloody nose, how to treat a sore arm, or what to look for if your child falls out the tree? This course covers all the day to day injuries that you will probably need to deal with.

2.1.    This course covers

2.1.1. Fractures, Burns, Bleeding, Seizures, Shock, Head and Spinal Injuries, Sprains, Eye    injuries, Bites & Stings, The Emergency Call, Safety, The Recovery position, Choking,  Asthma, Poisonings.

2.2.    What you receive

2.2.1. - A South African Basic First Aid booklet

2.2.2.  Basic First Aid certificate valid for 2 years

2.2.3. HPCSA CPD certificate: 3 CEUs.
